DHAKA: The owners of CNG-run auto-rickshaw called strike for 72-hour from April 1 to meet their five-point demands.
The owners of auto-rickshaws will make the announcement of the strike in a press conference on Saturday afternoon.
General Secretary of CNG Auto-rickshaw Owners’ Association Faridul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.
He told banglanews that the Dhaka Metropolitan CNG-run Auto-Rickshaw Owner’s Association and Dhaka City CNG-run Auto-Rickshaw Trader’s Association will jointly call the strike.
Faridul told banglanews: “Our main demand is to increase the life-time of auto-rickshaw to 15-year from 11-year and daily deposit has to be Tk 900 in stead of Tk 700.”
In response to a question that the CNG-run auto-rickshaw does not run in fixed fare, he said, “The problem started after the CNG price hiked in 2011. We want to bring it under regularity.”
