DHAKA: CNG-run auto rickshaw owners have called 72-hour strike from April 1 to press 7-point demands including fare-hike and increasing vehicle life-time to 15 yrs.
Dhaka City CNG Auto-Rickshaw Owner’s Association made the announcement on Saturday noon from a press briefing at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) hall room.
Association’s member secretary ATM Nazmul Hasan informed banglanews that Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) also recommended BRTA that CNG driven Auto-Rickshaw’s economic life can be prolonged upto 15 years after 4 months testing of 19 auto-rickshaws. But Bangladesh Roads Transport Authority didn’t meet the demand.
ATM Nazmul Hasan added, if their demands are not been fulfilled by March 31, CNG driven auto-rickshaw service will remain closed for 72 hours from the early 6am of April 1.
