FENI: Miscreants stuffed a total of 1,800 ballot papers after creating panic by exploding crude bombs at Chhagalnaiya Primary School polling center of in the upazila early Sunday.
Confirming the matter to banglanews, presiding officer of the center Ahamad Hossain said “Some 15 to 20 people forcefully entered into the center at 2:30am, kept the concerned officers hostage at gunpoint and casted the fake votes.”
“Pineapple, pitcher and tube well symbols were given seals in 600 ballots, totaling 1,800 fake votes,” he added.
On-duty police Sub-Inspector Shahidul Islam told banglanews “Miscreants conducted these at gunpoint; we had nothing to do immediately.”
Meanwhile, BNP led 19-party alliance-backed chairman aspirant Nur Ahammad Mazummadar (cup-plate symbol) alleged that supporters of Awami League-backed candidate Mesbah Ul Haidar Chudhury (pineapple) took control over six polling centers of the upazila before voting began at 8:00am.
Nur came up with the allegation while talking to the journalists at Satanagar Gosailghat Primary School polling center in the morning.
