RAJSHAHI: A dawn-to-dusk strike, enforced by Rajshahi Battery-run Easy-Bike Workers’ Union, is underway across the district on Wednesday demanding arrest of killers of a driver.

Union president Rashedul Islam announced the strike at a human chain, formed to protest the killing, on Monday.

Earlier on Monday afternoon, auto-rickshaw driver Sweet Hossain, 22, was beaten to death by the local bandits in Ranibazaar Madrassa Market area of the city after his vehicle accidentally knocked a bicycle on the road.

Sweet was the son of Jalal Uddin of Chowddopai Mohonpur area of Motihar thana,

A case was filed with Boalia Model Police Station in this connection. Police have arrested none yet.
