DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also ruling Awami League president, on Wednesday said new pay-scale will be declared within the next (2014-15) fiscal year.

The premier came up with the assertion while addressing parliament in response to a question from lawmaker Selim Uddin in the afternoon.

She told the House that a 15-member Pay Commission, led by former BB Governor Dr M Farashuddin, talked to officials and staff of various grades.

The commission, based on their findings, will make a recommendation on maintaining livelihood of a 6-member family, the House was told.

Sheikh Hasina added the recommendation could be submitted within next six months and the government would take necessary steps to implement the new pay scale.

She also said the government job holders are getting 20 percent dearness allowance as an interim system.
