DHAKA: Chairman of Tazreen Fashions Ltd Mahmuda Akhter Mita on Thursday morning was sent to jail.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Kazi Shahidul Islam passed the order after hearing when she sought bail surrendering before court.

Earlier, at around 10:00am, she surrendered before Dhaka chief Judicial Magistrate Court, source in the court confirmed the matter to banglanews.

On March 20, a Dhaka court cancelled the bail granted earlier to Mahmuda Akhter and also asked Mahmuda Akhtar to surrender before it within 15 days.

On November 24, 2012, at least 112 people were killed and over 200 others suffered injury in the devastating fire that raged through the Tazreen Fashions at Nischintapur in Ashulia on the outskirts of capital Dhaka.

A case was filed with Ashulia Police Station On November 25 in connection with the fire. Later on December 22, police submitted charge sheet against 13 people, including the chairman and the managing director of the garment factory, for the devastating fire in the garment factory.
