Heavy rainfall is likely over Rangpur and three other divisions, with scattered showers expected elsewhere, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
In its forecast issued Wednesday (17 September), the BMD said the monsoon trough currently extends from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar through West Bengal and northern Bangladesh to Assam, with a branch stretching into the northern Bay of Bengal.
Monsoon activity is described as moderately active over Bangladesh and moderate over the Bay.
The forecast for the 24 hours to Thursday morning predicts rain or thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, in many areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions.
Light to moderate rain is also likely at a few places in Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions.
Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected in some areas of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, and Sylhet divisions. Day and night temperatures may rise slightly across the country.
