DHAKA: At least 10 activists of Gonojagoron Mancha were injured when Juba League (JL) and Chhatra League men allegedly attacked them in Shahabagh area of the city Thursday night.

The incidence took place at 8:30pm.

The injured were identified as Arayno Shakil, Narendu Shaha Joy, Adann Muhammad, Tanvir, Sagar, Sanatan Malo, Ashkur Rahman Apu, Himel while details of 2 others could not be known yet.

Three of the injured were admitted at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and the others were given treatment at BIRDEM Hospital, Mahmudul Haque Munsi, one of the organizers of the Mancha, told banglanews.

Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarkar told banglanews “Some Chhatra League and JL activists kept occupied some chairs booked by the Mancha at a conference room of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for their pre-scheduled meeting at 8:30am.When our activists asked them to give it back then they attacked us.”

Police detained Abir Ghosh in this connection.

Meanwhile, the Mancha announced that it would hold a rally at Shahabagh on Friday protesting the attack.
