SYLHET: Stopping the vehicles plying, transports workers began an indefinite strike in the district on Saturday morning demanding arrest of the killers of a driver and attackers of another one.

Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Sramik Oikya Parishad Union enforced the protest programme after an emergency meeting held on Friday evening.

Union president Selim Ahmed Falik confirmed banglanews about the strike news on Friday night.

Earlier on Friday morning, miscreants swooped on an auto-rickshaw driver, Shafique Miah, in Lalabazaar area of Dakkhin Surma upazila, leaving him injured. He was undergoing treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.

In another incident, miscreants also shot dead a pick-up van driver, Sayem Ahmed, in Dopagul area of the city last Tuesday.
