India eye for 2nd World T20 title

DHAKA: Unbeaten India are set to face in-form Sri Lanka to win the World T20 title for a second time in Mirpur in the city on Sunday evening.

If India finish on top, Mahendra Singh Dhoni will have become the only captain to have won all the major tournaments conducted by the International Cricket Council (ICC), having already clinched the World T20 title (2007 in South Africa) and the ODI World Cup (2011 in India).

While Sri Lanka will seek an end to an inexplicable losing streak in title matches, after being beaten twice in the World Cup finals in 2007 and 2011 and the World Twenty20 finals in 2009 and 2012.

Prior to the World T20, Sri Lanka won the Asia Cup and bilateral ODI series against Bangladesh.

The final match of the tournament is scheduled to begin at 7:00am local time at Shere Bangla National Stadium.
