BD ready to host any ICC event

DHAKA: Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina on Sunday said Bangladesh is now fully prepared to be the host country of any of international tournament of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

The premier, also ruling Awami League president, made the assertion when ICC president Alan Isaac paid a courtesy call on her at office in the morning.

She said, “A cricket academy is likely to be set up in Cox’s Bazar with a view to improving competence of the cricketers.”
 
Alan offered his special thanks to the premier for her all out cooperation, including the ensuring of security in organizing the World Twenty20 tournament.

He also praised the Bangladeshi cricket fans, and the women’s cricket teams saying “they (women) showed a well performance within a short time”.

West Indies Cricket Board President Whycliffe Dave Cameron, ICC director Neil Speight, Singapore Cricket Association President Imran H Khwaja, ICC Chief Executive David Richardson and Bangladesh Cricket Board president Nazmul Hassan Papan, PM’s Principal Secretary Abdus Sobhan Sikdar and PM’s special assistant (media) Mahbubul Haque were among others present on the occasion.
