DHAKA: Cabinet declined to take responsibilities of the scam of gold crests, which were designed for the foreign nationals for their contribution to Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.
Cabinet secretary M Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan made the assertion after a cabinet meeting, chaired by Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina on Monday.
He said they did perform three responsibilities and it was not included and it was not discussed in the cabinet meeting.
The cabinet works included making citations, invitation cards and a list of guests.
He said the liberation war affairs ministry financed the program and also in financial management.
Earlier, a daily reported that the gold used in the crests for guests was in poor quality.
The cabinet secretary declined to make any more comment in this regard.
The cabinet division, liberation war affairs ministry and foreign affairs ministry, earlier, arranged the reception and honor giving ceremony for the foreign nationals.
