July National Charter signing rescheduled to Oct 17

The July National Charter signing ceremony has been rescheduled to October 17 (Friday) instead of October 15 (Wednesday) to ensure greater public participation on the weekend.

The decision was made at a meeting of the National Consensus Commission held on Saturday (October 11) at the state guesthouse Jamuna, with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus in the chair.

Following the meeting, Commission Vice-Chairman Professor Dr Ali Riaz told reporters that the July National Charter signing ceremony is a historic event. “To facilitate the participation of enthusiastic citizens, the ceremony will now be held on Friday, October 17, in the afternoon at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building,” he said.

Earlier, the commission had announced that the signing would take place on October 15, Wednesday afternoon.

The meeting also decided that representatives from various political parties and alliances across the country will attend the ceremony. In addition, invitations will be extended to representatives from different professional and social groups.

Among others, Commission Member Dr Badiul Alam Majumdar, Cultural Adviser Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, and Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser Monir Haider were present at the meeting.
