JOYPURHAT: Police detained seven men of Shibir including its upazila unit president and general secretary on Friday midnight from a mosque at Boar village in Akkelpur Upazila of the district.

Police sources said, “The Shibir activists were on a secret meeting in the name of Shab-e-Miraj prayer at the mosque”.

OC of Akkelpur Thana Mokhlesur Rahman said on information, they raided the mosque and picked up Akkelpur upazila Shibir president Abdullah-al-Mamun, general secretary Mostasin Billah and five others.

They also seized some ‘Zihadi’ books during the raid, he added.
