DHAKA: English daily ‘The Daily Star’ and ‘Ekushey Television (ETV)’, one of the private television channels in the country, were banned to covering any programmes of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

A competent source from the Prime Minister’s Office confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The source told banglanews: “Prime Minister’s Office banned these two media for their publishing and telecasting provocative news items taking anti-government stance.”

Any journalist from the two media was not allowed to enter the premier’s office, source added.

Security sources also confirmed the matter to banglanews.

The ban has been active for ETV for around a month while a week on Daily Star, sources added.
