COX’S BAZAR: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained a youth with 9,852 pieces of yaba tablets at Maricha Check Post in the district on Monday.

The detainee was identified as Fayez Uddin, 22, son of Shamsul Alam, residing in PMKhali under Sadar upazila.

At that time BGB also seized a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, which was carrying the narcotics.

Lieutenant Colonel Khandaker Saiful Alam, the Commanding Officer of BGB-17 Battalion told banglanews that they held a man with huge amount of drugs acting on tip-off.

The man was handed over to the Ramu Sadar Thana and a case also was filed under Narcotics Act in this connection, he added.
