DHAKA: Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Thursday inaugurated 20 BRTC buses on Motijheel-Uttara route in the city with live tracking and free Wi-Fi internet connection advantages.
The buses will run with the technical help from Access to Information (A to I) Programme of the Prime Minister’s office, he added.
Minister added that passengers henceforth will be able to know the route of buses and how far is the specific bus staying from websites.
Besides, BRTC officials can know and give necessary directions to buses on online from the office or other places, he added.
State-owned mobile phone operator Teletalk set up 3G wireless routers in the buses, which will enable 40 people to avail the free internet service at a time.
Information and Communication Technology, Junaid Ahmed Palak, BRTC chairman Jasim Uddin Ahmed, project director of Access to Information (A to I) Kabir Bin Anwar, also director general of Prime Minister’s office, and Naimuzzaman Mukta, among others, were present in the ceremony.
