RMG worker commits “suicide” in city

DHAKA: A female readymade garments (RMG) worker allegedly committed suicide by hanging from ceiling fan with ropes at her residence in Tejgaon area of the capital on Saturday afternoon.

The deceased was identified as Mukta, 18, used to reside in Uttar Begunbari of the area.

Tejgaon Thana Sub-Inspector Masud Rana told banglanews: “Police recovered the hanging body at Mukat’s neighboring tenant of Uttar Begunbari at 5:00pm.”

Mukta committed suicide by hanging herself with ropes closing door of the room, he claimed.

The SI, however, could not tell anything about why she committed suicide at the tenant’s room.

The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, Masud added.
