Fraternity the key: Sanjida Khatun

DHAKA: Welcoming the Bengali new-year 1421 with the theme of “country and fraternity”, Chhayanaut President Sanjida Khatun has urged all to be freed from communal feelings and to build a country of fraternity.

“Fraternity is the key to understand and to become close to the colours of the country,” she told the Pahela Boishakh’s main congregation at Ramna Batmul in the capital.

She told the gathering that those who want to keep innocent people captive in the name of religions are not in favour of welfare of commoners.

“The politicians who talk about religions want to use the religions as stairs for their lust of power.”

The pioneer of Bangladesh’s cultural movement said that people have to be aware through songs, reading, poems and dramas about the ill-motivated politicians who want to use religions for their own interest.

“People have to be freed from the willful sinners,” said the President of Chhayanaut, the silent leader of Bangladesh’s cultural movement since early 60s.

“Let’s be equipped with the spirit of non-communal fraternity and go to people along with our cultural heritage for peace and stability of the country,” she said adding, “we have to take oath for bringing welfare for people in this new year.”

Sanjida Khatun told the huge gathering that difference is increasing among people in terms of education and wealth. “A large section of people are becoming vulnerable for the difference,” she said adding the religion traders are taking the opportunity.

“The religion traders are getting huge amount of money from the external forces, who are against our liberation, and ensuring allegiance of poor people by distributing a part of the money brought from abroad.”

Even, Sanjida Khatun said, the religion traders are engaging the poor people in anti-liberation subversive acts.

“We can’t sit idle and keep ourselves silent after knowing and watching everything,” she said adding: We have responsibility and accountability.

“May be providing education or ensuring employment is not our job. But it’s our moral duty to make people understand that fighting is not the education of true religion,” said Sanjida Khatun.
