Fire guts 80 Thakurgaon houses

THAKURGAON: Some 80 houses of 24 families were burnt to ashes in separate fires at Rampur and Shaslapiyala villages under Sadar upazila of the district from late Monday to early Tuesday.

Thakurgaon Fire Service and Civil Service station officer Azizul Haque told banglanews, “A fire originated from an electric short circuit in Shaslapiyala village at 12:30am on Tuesday, burning 30 houses of 8 families into ashes in a flash.”

Meanwhile, another fire, originating from a pile of ash, destroyed 50 houses of 18 families in Rampura at 8:00pm Monday.

On information, district fire fighters rushed in and doused the flame after two hours of frantic efforts.

The fires caused an estimated damage wroth about Tk 20 lakhs, according to the victims.
