DHAKA: Unidentified kidnappers set free Abu Bakar Siddique, husband of Bangladesh Environment Lawyers Association (Bela) Chief Executive Syeda Rizwana Hasan, on the road in front of the Mirpur Ansar Camp Friday early.
AB Siddique was released some 35 hours after a miscreant gang abducted him in front of the Bhuiyan Filling Station in Fatulla area of Narayanganj district on Wednesday.
Despite being freed, details of AB Siddique’s abduction and release still a mystery.
The kidnappers released him blindfolded on the road and put some TK 300 in his pocket, which AB Siddique supposedly can use as transport fare to reach home.
Albeit Rizwana’s husband reached home but the abductors remained untraced and why they kidnapped him and what were their motives also remained under darkness too.
Getting the pressures from government and different groups, the kidnappers freed Siddique, claimed the police and the victim’s family.
Sources said AB Siddique was going his residence in Dhanmondi Central Road area by a CNG-run auto rickshaw around 1:45pm. When the CNG reached at Dhanmondi check post petrol police identified him and took him to Dhanmondi Thana.
AB Siddique said some abductors released him at Mirpur Kazipara at midnight. Then he rents a CNG auto rickshaw to go home and later police rescued him.
On the other hand, Syeda Rizwana Hasan thanked the law enforcers and newsmen for their contribution to rescue her husband.
Allude to a group of miscreants abducted AB Siddique in front of the Bhuiyan Filling Station in Fatulla area of Narayanganj district on Wednesday.
Later Rizwana filed a case with Fatulla Model Thana in this connection.
