DHAKA: Armed Police Battalion (APBn) detained six people with several gold bars weighing 1.3 kilograms at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city on Friday night.

The detainees are – Sahidul Islam, Haidar, Nasim Khan, Sha Alam, Ishaq Mian, and Dipan.

APBn assistant superintendent of police (ASP) Asma Ara Jahan confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Airport sources said that they landed at the airport by three separate Kuala Lumpur flights of MS-196, TR-2656 and SQ-446 at 10:30pm.

Asma said, “Customs arrested them during the checking at the Airport’s second terminal and as gold bar was found at pockets and money bags”.

The seized gold would be worth about Tk 53 lakhs, added Asma.
