DHAKA: To make the travel between Bangladesh and India over railway more convenient and comfortable along with to re-open old rail connectivity points and establish new route an inter-ministerial meeting will starts from April 21.
The annual talk on India-Bangladesh Inter-Governmental railway cooperation will continue till April 24 in Dhaka, a press release said on Saturday.
Besides, making journey through Maitree Express better re-opening of Birol (Bangladesh) – Radhikapur (India), Chilahati (Bangladesh) – Haldibari (India) and construction of new connectivity point between Akhaura-Agartala will be discussed there.
The Indian delegation, led by AK Maitra, Additional Member (Traffic), Railway Board, Ministry of Railways will meet several times with Bangladesh team, led by Shah Zahirul Islam, Additional Director General (Operations), Bangladesh Railway.
The news release said the meeting would undertake a complete review of railway cooperation between the two countries and ways and means to improve connectivity and services.
The two delegations would also discuss freight train operations and the feasibility of introducing container train services between India and Bangladesh.
