3 BIRDEM docs among 5 sued

DHAKA: Five people, including three doctors, of Bangladesh Institute of Research & Rehabilitation in Diabetes, Endocrine and Metabolic Disorders (BIRDEM) Hospital, were sued for their alleged involvement in killing of a patient.

Victim Sirajul Islam’s daughter Farhana Nasrin, on Sunday noon, filed the lawsuit with Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court.

Metropolitan Magistrate Mizanur Rahman recorded the statement of the plaintiff and kept the order CAV.

Dr Azad, Dr Shamima Akhter, Dr Firoz Amin, Kallyan Devnath and Anwar Hossain were made the defendants to the case.
 
Earlier, the authorities of BIRDEM hospital filed case against at least 25 people, including ABM Masud Hossain, Additional Superintendent of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Ishahaq Hossain Babu, Assistant Personal Secretary (APS) of Begum Munnujan Sufian, Farhana Nasrin, daughter of Sirajul and one Abir Hossain.

Manik Mollah, senior security supervisor of BIRDEM, filed the case against them for their alleged involvement in instigating the assault on doctors after a patient died at the hospital.

Doctors observed an hour token work abstention from 11:00am demanding the trial of the attack and vandalism incidents. They also observed one hour work abstention on Saturday.
