DHAKA: Sushashoner Jonno Nagorik (Sujan) has claimed that a total 226 lawmakers of the 10th national parliament are millionaire and 50 percent of them are businessmen.

Shujan secretary Dr Badiul Alam Majumder made the disclosure while analyzing the affidavits of the lawmakers at Dhaka Reporters Unity in the city on Sunday noon.

Badiul Alam said some 175 members of the parliament are involved in business and 51 are lawyers.

The report stated that 128 members of the parliament have obtained post-graduation degree while 147 were completed graduation.

The report also said some 55 MPs earned over millions of taka while 17 MPs bellow Tk 2-lakh.

Besides, the number of total taxpayer is 258 out of 300 MPs except reserved seat MPs.

ASM Shahjahan, Ali Imam Mojumder and Dr Tofayel Ahmed and Central Chief Coordinator Dilip Kumar Sarkar were among others present at the press meet.
