DHAKA: Bangladesh Women in Technology (BWIT) and UCEP jointly celebrated Girl’s in ICT Day for the second time at UCEP Mirpur Technical School on Thursday with the participation of girl students.
It has created a huge excitement, expectation and participation from girls and women, says a press release.
Luna Shamsuddoha, President of BWIT presided over in the program while UCEP Executive Director Zaki Hasan has presented the keynote address on ‘Underprivileged Girls in ICT.’
International Girls’ in ICT Day is an initiative backed by International Telecommunications Union (ITU) to create a global environment that empowers and encourages girls and young women to consider careers in the growing field of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in 193 Member States.
UCEP has around 48,000 children and about half are girls from marginalized communities in 8 districts of Bangladesh through its 53 general schools and 10 technical schools to “End Child Labor, Ensure Education and Employability!”
IT Journalists and IT entrepreneurs and IT professionals were attended in the event.
DELL Bangladesh donated two laptops under DELL: Student Power Program to UCEP during the event.
UCEP girl students shared their views on ICT with the guests.
