DHAKA: Customs Intelligence Department detained a passenger with 28 gold bars, weighing 3.3 kilograms at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city on Friday morning.

The detainee is identified as Md Bahar, arrived in Dhaka from Dubai by a flight of Emirates Airlines, hailed from Comilla.

Sources said that acting on a tip off custom officials challenged Bahar and seized 28 gold bars worth about Tk 1.5-crore from his body and shoes around 8:30 am.

Customs Intelligence Department Assistant Commissioner (AC) Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews.
