Cop-bus worker clash hurts 10

SIRAJGANJ: At least 10 people were injured in a clash between police and transport workers in MA Matin bus terminal area of the district on Sunday morning.

Sources said that the workers were trying to put blockade on roads to halt traffic around 10:15am as a part of their indefinite strike in the district. On information, police rushed to the spot. Then the agitating bus workers started throwing brick chips aiming police.

In reply, police fired fifty rounds tear shell and rubber bullets to bring the situation under control, leaving the people injured.

Sadar Thana Officer-in-Charge Hasibul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.

An indefinite strike, jointly enforced by Bus and Motor workers’ Unions, is underway in the district from Sunday morning.
