8 dacoits held with arms-ammo

DHAKA: Detective branch of metropolitan police, in a night long drive, held eight dacoits with huge firearms and ammunition from various spots of the capital.

The detainees were- Nur Alam alias Habu, 25, Nazrul Islam alias Tuhin, 25, Abdul Mannan, 23, Khokan Chandra Biswas, 30, Kamal Munshi, 26, Jahidul Islam Roman, 28, Abdur Rahim, 38 and Wasim, 30.

Meanwhile, law enforcers seized two foreign made pistols, three magazines, 19-round bullet, two private cars, two motorbikes and four tolas gold jewelry from them.

In a press conference at DMP Media center at 12:00pm, Deputy Director of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Sheikh Nazmul Alam said that the detainees are professional robbers. They were arrested several times but after getting release they again involved themselves in robbery.

Assistant Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of police Ashikur Rahman, ADC Saiful Islam and Assistant Commissioner (AC) Mahmud Naser Jony was present among others in the press conference.
