DHAKA: Police arrested five directors of Hotel Regency in a case for beating up one Kabir Reza and demanding extortion on Sunday night.

The detainees are Badrudduza Sagor, Shah Mohammad Ashraf, Nuruzzaman, Manjur Hossain and Mujib Khan.

Confirming the matter to banglanews, Paltan thana Officer-in-Charge Golam Morshed said earlier in the afternoon, the accused beat up Reza near to Ananda Bhaban Community center in capital’s Paltan thana area.

Later, the victim filed a case in a Dhaka court and as per court directives, police detained the five among eight accused of Hotel Regency on Sunday night.

On the other hand, Hotel Regency Media Coordinator Moushumi Nargis Laki in a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) claimed that, “Police arrested the owners of Regency in a fake case.”
