DHAKA: Bangladesh Tuesday signed an agreement with China for setting up a 1,320 megawatt coal-based power plant in Moheshkhali in Cox’s Bazar.
China will provide 70 percent of the project cost while rest 30 percent by Bangladesh.
Chinese company China Huadian Hong Kong Limited will implement the project.
Works for the coal-fired power plant will start this year and expected to be completed by 2019.
The agreement signing ceremony at the Bidyut Bhaban in the capital was witnessed by Prime Minister’s Advisor Dr. Towfique-e-Elahi Chowdhury Bir Bikram and State Minister for Energy, Nasrul Hamid.
