BAU, MYMENSINGH: Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) appointed Professor Dr M Harun-Or-Rashid as new Proctor the university amid student protest.

A source in the BAU Public Relations Office confirmed the matter to banglanews Wednesday.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting at BAU VC’s resident at 9:00pm Tuesday, said the source.

Meanwhile, the indefinite strike, called by the general students of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) seeking arrest and capital punishment of the killers of Saad Inbe Momtaz, is being observed peacefully on the campus Wednesday.

Earlier, on April 28, Saad, a final year student of the Fisheries Faculty of the university, was beaten to death allegedly by activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League BAU unit.

On April 9, the university authorities expelled three students of the university and suspended another three for various terms.
