DHAKA: Five people were killed and 8 others injured as lightning struck them in separate incidents in different places of Lalmonirhat and Panchagarh Thursday.

In Lalmonoirhat, four people were killed and 7 injured when thunder struck in Aditmari, Hatibandha and Kaliganj upazilas of the district on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Awshin Kumar, 55, of Tiperbazar area of Aditmari, Luthfar Rahman, 26, son of Jabed Ali of Dhunbi village, Joynal Abedin, 30, son of Idris Ali of Doanibazar village and Bishnu Kumar Das, 40, son of Bidahn Chandra Das of Nwbadas union of  Hatibandha upazila.

Details of the injured could not be known immediately. The injured are undergoing treatment at Kalighanj Upazila Health Complex.

Officers-In-Charge at concerned thana confirmed the matter to banglanews separately.

In Panchagarh, a farmer named Abu Bakar, 35, was killed as lightning struck hi in Boda upazila.
