DHAKA: Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu has observed that online media is very much important as it provides news within a very short time.
The minister came up with the observation while addressing the inaugural ceremony of a new online news portal at Bishwo Shahitto Kendro in the capital on Sunday.
He said: “This is time for nourishing democracy and online media can be our fellow through disseminating news faster to the people.”
Mentioning that the government would emphasis on the development of online news media, he added that as they provide information instantly, it requires objectivity.
Addressing the function, Jatiya Party Presidium Member GM Quader said not only the government as well as the owners of media does have the responsibilities to protect the freedom of press.
Comrade Ajay Roy, Convener of the committee of protesting Communalism and Terrorism, Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) General Manager Shah Alamgir, ruling Awami League Information Affairs Secretary Afjal Hossain and Dhaka University Mass Communication and Journalism Department Professor Sakhawat Ali Khan were among among others present on the occasion.
Eminent Media personality Robaet Ferdous, Associate Professor of Mass Communication and Journalism of Dhaka University, moderated the function.
