JOYPURHAT: Border Security Forces (BSF) of India shot dead a cattle trader in Hatkhola frontier under Panchbibi upazila of the district on Monday morning.

The deceased was identified as Jony Islam, 22, son of Anwar Hossain, hailed from Srimantapur village of Dharanji Union of the upazila.

Sources said that the victim with his cattle was returning from India at pillar no. 280 in the border area around 4:00am. Then BSF personnel opened fire aiming him, leaving him critically injured.

Later, BSF men admitted him to a hospital of Indian border where he died around 8:30am. 

Confirming the matter BGB-3 Battalion Commander Abdur Razzak Tarafdar told that a letter was sent to BSF asking to hold a flag meeting to get beck the body.
