PATUAKHALI: With recovery of one more body on Monday morning five-kilometer away from the spot of the launch capsize in the river Kolagachhia of the district Saturday, the death toll in the tragedy rose to 16.

The identity of the body could not be known yet.

Noticing the body was afloat on the river at 7:00am, locals informed police. Later, Kolagachhia police outpost rushed in and recovered the body.

Launch MV Shakhil-1, carrying 30-40 passengers, were going to Patuakhali from Golachipa and capsized at 3:45pm.

Golachipa Upazila Assistant Commissioner (land) and Acting Upazila Nirbahi Officer Kazi Sayemuzzaman told banglanews, “Rescue Ship MV Hamza left Barisal for the spot and it will take three or four hours more to reach.”
