DHAKA: Anti Kidnapping squad detained eight fake policemen from Aftab Nagar area of Rampura in the city on Monday morning.

The detainees are Tazal Mridha alias Suzan, 32, Jamal Uddin, 35, Shipon, 30, Yakub, 32, Mamun Khalifa, 28, Rubel, 25, Shimul Sardar, 27, Rafiqullah Sahed, 47.

The law enforcers, however, seized a shotgun, 20 cocktails, a wireless set, handcuff and a microbus from their possession.

Confirming the matter, Deputy Commissioner of Crime Information Department (South) of Detective Branch of Police (DB) Krishna Pado Roy said that acting on a tip off, the anti kidnapping squad in a drive held them from the area with firearms.

A case was filed against the detainees with Badda thana, he added.

Anti Kidnapping Squad Chief Mohammad Sanwar Hossain, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) media and public relations department Deputy Commissioner Masudur Rahman and Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Saidur Rahman, among others, were present in the press conference.
