FARIDPUR: At least two people were killed and two others injured as lightning struck them at Sonamukhi village under Kalamridha union in Bhanga upazila of the district on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Shamim Khalifa, 25, and Mohammad Humayun, 35, hailed from Deura village of the union.

Locals source that Shamim and Humayun died on the spot in lightning while playing cards there. Two other players, Rafique and Shahin, were also injured seriously, sources added.

Confirming this matter to banglanews, Bhanga Thana Officer-in-Charge Nazrul Islam said the fatally injured were rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital.
