DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina asked civil aviation officers to improve the service quality and assure the security of the passengers in plane.
The premier showed her concern in this regard in a view exchange meeting with the officials of Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry on Thursday.
Sheikh Hasina said that we have already taken several projects to improve the facilities of airports, safe aircraft landing and to ensure international standard in passenger service.
A project is underway costing Tk 531-crore and 26-lakh for setting taxiway-lighting system and developing the drainage system at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, she added.
She further said that another project spending Tk 188-crore and 21-lakh is likely to be finished in next month for overlaying the runway of the airport.
The second runway at Shahjalal International Airport will be built shortly, she added.
Sheikh Hasina directed the officials to take initiatives to nourish the tourism industry.
She also mentioned that the tourism industry can financially play a vital role in our country as its natural beauty.
She also alarmed everyone to be conscious and careful in safety reasons in the danger zones in the tourist areas.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon, secretary of the ministry Khorshed Alam and other high officials of the ministry, among others, were present there.
