PM presents National Film Awards

DHAKA: The National Film Awards 2012 were given to the prominent artistes of Bangla movies in 24 categories on Saturday.

The premier of the country Sheikh Hasina presented the awards in different categories to the film artistes and makers at 

Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the award giving ceremony on Saturday.

Popular actor Shakib Khan got the award in best actor’s category for the action drama film ‘Khodar Pore Ma’.

On the other hand, prominent actress Joya Ahsan secured her award as the best actress for action thriller film ‘Chorabali’.

Late litterateur and filmmaker Humayan Ahmed was awarded for best film direction and screenplay for his masterpiece ‘Ghetuputra Kamala’.

The lifetime achievement award went to actor Khalil Ullah Khan for his great contribution in the film industry.

Veteran actor ATM Shamsuzzaman got award for best supporting role in ‘Chorabali’ where Shahiduzzaman Selim got the award as best villain in the same film.

Music composer Imon Saha achieved two awards as best music director for ‘Ghetuputra Kamala’ and best composer for the film ‘Pita’.

The young director and script writer Redwan Rony got the award as best filmmaker for ‘Chorabali’.

Besides these Palash was awarded as best singer (male), Runa Laila as best singer (female) and Milon Khandaker got the award of best lyricist.

Faridur Reza Sagor was awarded as best producer for the film ‘Uttorer Sur’. Lucy Tripty Gomes got the award of best supporting role for the same movie.

Shahnewaj Kakoli got the award of best story writing and Meghla and Manun got awards in child artiste category.

The award for best cinematography went to Mahfuzur Rahman while best editor award went to Saliullah Sali.

Ripon Nath was awarded as best sound editor for ‘Chorabali’.

Two art directors, Kamaltara and Uttam Guha were awarded for ‘Raja Surja Kha’ movie.

The best make-up man award was given to Khalilur Rahman for the film ‘Ghetuputra Kamala’. SM Mainuddin Fuad was awarded as best choreographer for the same film.

The award giving ceremony was followed by a colorful cultural event where famous artistes of the country performed.
