DHAKA: Chairman of National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Dr Mizanur Rahman claimed that the government mostly ignores the suggestions of NHRC in any incident if there is any political involvement.
The NHRC chief came up with the assertion in his welcome note in a workshop of journalists at a city hotel on Monday.
He said, “We only can recommend if human rights are violated because we don’t have executive power on any issues.”
He also highlighted the Narayanganj abduction and murder case of seven people. This sort of incident is violation of the human rights.
The law enforcers and home affairs ministry are responsible for these sorts of incidents, he added.
He also claimed that the accused persons have got enough time to flee the country and destroy the evidences related to the murder and abduction.
The people, who have given the opportunity to destroy the evidences, should also be brought under judgment, he added.
