Expat welfare secy summoned May 20

DHAKA: Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) summoned expatriate welfare secretary Dr Khandaker Shawkat Hossain to appear before it on May 20 on allegation of misappropriation of plots allocation from Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk).

The commission sent a notice on Monday noon.

ACC deputy-director (public relations) confirmed the matter to banglanews saying that ‘he is called in regards of case investigations’.

On April 22, ACC filed three cases against the current expatriate secretary, also former housing and public works secretary. The case numbers are 8, 9 and 10.

According to the case statement, Dr Khandaker Shawkat Hossain got allocation of a 3-katha plot from Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha.

The allegation has been proved that misusing the power he took allocation of land increasing from 3-katha to 5-katha.

The second case showed that the secretary also used his power to manage an allocation of plot of 5-katha in place of 3-katha for his mother Zakia Amzad.

The third case showed the secretary further misused his power to manage an allocation of plot for his wife Professor Dr Ayesha Begum.

These plots belong to Uttara and Purbachal project areas.
