CHUADANGA: Indian Border Security Force (BSF) beaten up a Bangladeshi cattle trader to death and abducted four others from Munsipur frontier under Damurhuda upazila of district on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Hasibur Rahman, 30, son of Mostobari of Munsipur village of the upazila while details of the detainees could not be known immediately.
Several reliable sources said, “A group of Bangladeshi cattle traders, numbering 8 to 9, entered into the Indian territory crossing main pillar no. 93 in the area at 8:30pm on Tuesday; at the time, BSF-113 Battalion members at Mohakhola camp of Chapra thana of Nadia district chased the traders, and caught Hasibur and four others there.”
Later, BSF men beat Hasibur to death with the haft of rifle indiscriminately. Four others remained missing since then.
Wishing anonymity, several people of the traders group, those managed to escape the BSF chase, confirmed the death of Hasibur to banglanews.
BGB Chuadanga-6 commanding officer (CO) Li Co SM Moniruzzaman told banglanews, “I heard that BSF held a Bangladeshi.”
The CO, however, could not confirm the death of the detainee.
