DHAKA: The Airport Customs Intelligence Department seized 1.89 lakh Saudi Riyal at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Friday night. 

Sources said that acting on a tip off, the law enforcers seized the foreign currency from an abandoned travel bag around 9:00pm.   

Customs Intelligence Deputy Director Mostafijur Rahman confirmed the matter to banglanews. 

He suspects that the currency has been brought here to smuggle into Malaysia as a flight was scheduled to leave for the country during the time.

Regarding the matter, investigation is going on and the process is underway to file case, he added.
