CHITTAGONG: Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation (BRTF) has called for a 36-hour transport strike in the district from July 18.

The BRTF sponsored the strike announced from a press conference to press home their 15-point demand including reclaiming its Fatikchhari branch office from the occupiers.

The federation is led by Shipping Minister Shahjahan Khan and the leaders of the organization said they consulted the Minister before announcing the strike.

Mrinal Chowdhury, president of Chittagong regional branch, alleged that Chittagong Car-Micro-Jeep Workers Union occupied their office with the help terrorists.

The local administration did not take any step in the last 18 months despite repeated request, he said.

The Shipping Minister could not be reached over phone for his comment.
