Bangladesh becomes CICA member

DHAKA: Bangladesh got the full membership of Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

All the members of CICA unanimously decided to accept Bangladesh as a full member.

The membership will be formalized on May 20, right before the 4th Summit of CICA. 

CICA finalized the decision on Tuesday, on the eve of the Fourth Summit of CICA, scheduled to be opened on May 21 in Shanghai, China.

Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, MP already signed the documents paper in this regard who will lead the Bangladesh delegation to the summit.  

Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN) Ban Ki-Moon and top leaders of member countries of UN will join in the conference. 

CICA is an inter-governmental forum for enhancing cooperation towards promoting peace, security and stability in Asia which was launched in 1999. 

The 25 CICA members are Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Egypt, India, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Palestinian territories, South Korea, Russia, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.
