LAMA, BANDARBAN: At least three people died of diarrhea and 32 more affected in Thang Pong Mro Para of Rupasipara union under Lama Upazila of the district.

The deceased were identified as Long Pong Mro, 12, son of Barai Mro, Songru Mro, 17, daughter of Kingpoy Mro and Champaw Mro, 18, daughter of Imkoyen Mro.

Following the epidemic three medical teams of military and Upazila Health Complex were sent to the area on Thursday noon.

Local Union Parisad member told banglanews, “The epidemic spread in the area on Monday and affected 35 people and the three victims died of diarrhea”.

Confirming the matter Lama Upazila acting health and family planning officer Dr Shafiur Rahman said that the wells of hill tracks became polluted due to excessive heat and then diarrhea broke out.
