DHAKA: Two former Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) officers Lt Col Tareque Sayeed Mohammad and Major Arif Hossain were shown arrested on Thursday afternoon in the case filed for abduction and killing of seven people, including Narayanganj panel mayor Nazrul Islam.

The former RAB officers were also placed on a fresh eight-day remand in the case. 

District senior judicial magistrate KM Mohiuddin passed the remand order.

Earlier they were produced before the court around 5:20pm on expiry of their five-day remand.

The two sacked RAB officers were arrested from Dhaka Cantonment on May 17, for their alleged involvement in the abduction and murder of seven people in Narayanganj. 

On April 27, Nazrul and six others were kidnapped from the Dhaka-Narayanganj link road around the same time in broad daylight.

Later, six bodies, including Nazrul and Chandan, were found floating in the Shitalakkhya River on April 30 and the following day.
