BANDARBAN: Communications Minister Obaidul Quader on Friday inaugurated Chimbuk-Thanchi road which connected 3,000 feet high mountain area with other parts of the district.

The Chimbuk-Thanchi road connected Bandarban and Thanchi to Nilgiri, Kaprupara, Jibonnagar and Balipara.

Minister said, “The road will change the communication system of the district.”

He also said that the communication system of the area like other parts of the country would be modernized within the tenure of incumbent government.

16 and 17 ECB of Bangladesh Army and Roads and Highways Department (RHD) jointly implemented the 53 km long road that cost Tk 93.88 crore.

Planning minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, State Minister of the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Bir Bahadur Ushwe Sing MP, Brigadier General Nakib Ahmed Chowdhury and district comissioner KM Tariqul Islam among others were present in the programme.
