DHAKA: In a bid to prevent lawyers’ rally, law enforcers have locked all gates of Supreme Court (SC) and Bar Council on Saturday morning.

Police also detained seven lawyers when they attempted to enter premises. The detainees include- Jahirul Hasan Mukul, Kamrul Hasan and ASM Masud Hossain. 

Besides, Police put barbed wire fence at the Mazar gate area. 

Some 20 lawyers were seen at the stage and BNP Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has already reached in the rally ground.

Following the obstruction, an uncertainty was created about the rally.

On the other hand, police did not allow the lawyers to enter the area as no permission was taken. 

Police prison van, Armed Police Car (APC) was seen kept ready in the Supreme Court premises. 

Shabagh Thana Sub-Inspector Waheduzzaman said that all the gates were kept closed for security reason.  

Earlier, Supreme Court Lawyers Association president Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon said that Saturday’s grand rally will be held at the Supreme Court premises anyhow even without stage.
